Finance: Fairly meager due to gambling debts History: Tom grew up with three close friends - Jerry, Billy and Dan - that did all the stuff young kids do, building tree houses, pulling stupid stunts, planning adventures... The four grew fairly apart as they got older but when Billy, the leader of the group, died in an accident aged only thirty the remaining three reunited. They discovered that their lost friend had been planning a trip to recover the legendary D. B. Cooper's treasure - something they'd fantasised about as children. In Billy's memory the three set out to take the trip which, naturally, doesn't quite go to plan. Tom is pretty much the loser of the group. While clearly not an idiot he seems to lack anything resembling common sense and has a spotty criminal record comprised mostly of misdemenor offences. He's lucky with the ladies but not with gambling, which he regularly uses to indebt himself. Tom believes that this is proof of his father's theory that his family is cursed - "If we didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck at all."
